Police are investigating an alleged robbery under arms at Sita’s Bar, Block CC Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara on Wednesday at around 20:25hrs where Glezel Roberts of Diamond, EBD, was allegedly robbed of $260,000, two cellphones valued $174,000 by several persons, two armed with cutlasses and one with a gun, a female waitress and an accomplice. Other persons were also robbed in the process.
According to reports, the victim was in the bar amongst other persons, when he observed the waitress was talking to a male.
About five minutes after, he noticed the man went and collected the waitress’s cellphone and was talking.
About five minutes after, he saw a guy run into the bar with a black hoodie fully masked with a firearm in his hands followed by the two others dressed in orange hoodie and black hoodie fully masked respectively with cutlasses.
The armed bandit pointed the firearm to the victim’s head and relieved him of the articles mentioned above while the males armed with the cutlasses relieved other persons of their articles and made good their escape in an unknown direction.
No shot fired and no one injured.
The waitress and male were contacted, where a search was conducted on their homes but nothing of evidential value was found.
They were arrested and escorted to the Beterverwagting Police Station where they are in custody.
