A twenty-nine-year-old Fisherman of Parimaribo, Suriname, was remanded to prison after appearing at the Georgetown Magistrate Court answering to two narcotics charge.
The Fisherman was busted with 140 grams of cannabis along with 12 grams of cocaine both for the purpose of trafficking.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan is Daryck Christopher who pleaded not guilty to both offenses after which his Attorney Daren Wade argued that his client was visiting his father when the allegations was put to him leading to his arrest.
According to reports, Christopher is here for his brother’s funeral(Dale Christopher) who was killed in a shooting back in March, 2021.
According to the particulars of the offenses on April 3, at Rosemary Lane, Tiger Bay, Georgetown, the Fisherman was found with 140 grams of cannabis. In the day in question at the same location, he also had 12 grams of cocaine in his possession.
His attorney further argued that the police arrested the Fisherman without proper investigation and without being questioned.
The Prosecutor objected to bail stating that the Fisherman as no special circumstances for bail to be granted especially since he didn’t give a fix place of abroad and also stated that the accused was found with a bag containing the substances in his hand while sitting on the bed at the same adirementioned addres.
The matter was deferred to April, 21st, 2021.
