Acting prison Director Nicklon Elliot has clarified the early release of Manslaughter Convict Rondell Bacchus .
The Guyana Prison Service in a release to the media stated that Rondell Bacchus was admitted to prison on August 15, 2008 for the offence of Murder, Robbery under Arms, Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunitions.
On September 16, 2009 he was committed to stand trial at Demerara, High Court.
On April 2, 2019 prisoner Bacchus attended the Demerara, High Court where he plead guilty to the lesser count of Manslaughter and was sentenced to Sixteen (16) years, Eight (8) months imprisonment. In addition, he was further sentenced to Three (3) years for the Robbery under Arms, One (1) year for the Possession of a Firearm and One (1) year for the Possession of Ammunitions.
Elliot noted that the sentences were concurrent and it commenced from the admission date which is August 15, 2008 (time spent on remand was deducted).
Bacchus was discharged from prison on October 3, 2019.
Police on Tuesday issued a wanted bulletin for Bacchus over the gunning down of gold dealer and Kitty resident, Ricardo Fagundes called “ paper shorts “and just about an hour later he surrendered to police at the Eve Leary, Kingston headquarters of the Crimi-nal Investigation Depart-ment. He was accompanied by his attorney Damien Da Silva.
