A 25-year-old fisherman is now dead after his cousin, 26 years old Rockey Harper aka “Dadadoo” a fisherman of 1 Section A D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice, allegedly cut his throat on Sunday at around 18:30hra at his address. Dead is Reaz Mohamed aka “Bouy”. Both individuals lived in the same yard but in different houses.
On the day in question, the deceased, suspect, and other family members were imbibing at the above address. Mohamed became highly intoxicated and began dancing to the music that was playing. At around 18:30hrs, the music stopped and this annoyed the deceased. As a result, he began behaving badly. His father, Farook Mohamed tried to calm him, but he (deceased) began to assault the man.
The suspect then intervenes and parted the two. However, Mohamed continued behaving disorderly. Harper picked up a knife and cut Mohamed’s throat after which he fled the scene.
Mohamed fell to the ground and began bleeding. The police were summoned and he was taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect is still on the run as Investigations continue.
