19 years old Yogeshwar Seemangall, a teacher who lives at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara was robbed of his haversack, cell phone and ear piece on Tuesday at around 20:45hrs at Cornhill Street, Stabroek, Georgetown by three armed bandits.
According to reports reaching Daily News, the victim was walking North along Cornhill Street towards the Stabroek Market area to catch transportation to go home when the three men confronted him.
One of the bandits held on to his shirt and pulled him across the road while the others took away his belongings. After robbing and assaulting the teacher, the bandits walked away in a southern direction on Lombard Street. The victim then made a report to the Stabroek Market Police Outpost.
Police promptly responded and arrested two of the bandits on Lombard Street. They were identified as 26 years old Seon Samules of Hunter Street and Punt Trench Albouystown and a 17 year old of 65 Hunter Street Albouystown. A cutlass was found in the possession of the juvenile, while the victim’s bag and ear piece was found in the possession of Samuels. The cell phone was not recovered. They both confessed to crime. The suspects further told police that the other suspect named, “Ceaser of Leopold Street has the victim’s phone. Efforts were made to contact the third suspect but he was not located.
Investigations are ongoing.
